Informed insights and advice for policymakers

SIPRI acts as an adviser to international organizations including the UN, the OECD and NATO, and to governments and regional organizations. SIPRI has provided advice to inform international treaty negotiations such as those for the Non-Proliferation Treaty and towards an arms trade treaty. SIPRI facilitates dialogue among countries and provides concrete policy ideas and advice through policy papers and targeted research.

SIPRI’s research is being disseminated through an array of channels, ranging from the SIPRI website, social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Linkedin) and a monthly newsletter to events, seminars and conferences in local contexts and with thematic communities. SIPRI is being mentioned in international media on average over 1,000 times a month or more.

Conference and seminar convener

SIPRI welcomes visitors and delegations from all over the world. SIPRI convenes, co-hosts and facilitates events in Stockholm and abroad. Three major events gathering global and local thought leaders are Stockholm Forum on Peace and Development, Stockholm Security Conference and the SIPRI Lecture. Other recent prominent examples include informing at the UN High-Level Political Forum, convening an address by President of South Korea Moon Jae-In at Sveriges Riksdag and participating in the political, social and business forum Almedalen.
