EDUROAM

eduroam is a world-wide roaming access service originally developed for the international research and education community. Today eduroam is available in thousands of locations across more than 100 countries, from university campuses; to international airports; and local coffee shops. And at SIPRI!

For more details of where eduroam is available, have a look at: https://eduroam.org/where/

All staff on contract can get a SIPRI eduroam account – just send an email to support@sipri.org to request it. Security regulations do not allow us to send passwords on email or as text message, so beware that you will need to come by the IT office in person to pick up your access details.

VPN
The SIPRI VPN (Tunnelblick) provides a means to access internal SIPRI IT services securely when not in the office. You will need it to access the Intranet and some other services. You do not need a VPN to access Nextcloud. You access the VPN with your SIPRI Account details.

Our VPN is for accessing internal services remotely only, it does not provide general protection for your computer when surfing – so activating the VPN does not make your computer safe from harm for example when travelling. Some countries (China in particular) block certain VPN services.

Your SIPRI Mac should already come pre-installed with Tunnelblick. If you need to set it up on your own mac or a Windows computer, please contact us at support@sipri.org for the latest configuration file and instructions.

Please note that your VPN will disconnect when at SIPRI, this is intentional to avoid network access issues. You will be able to activate the VPN again as soon as you are outside the SIPRI Wifi range.
